Bec & Ben were living and Darwin and had planned a May wedding in Melbourne before Ben’s overseas Army tour was unexpectedly brought forward nine months.
So, with eight weeks to plan, what is the one Saturday that’s sure to be free in Melbourne for wedding related shenanigans at such short notice? AFL Grand Final day of course!
Bec & Ben couldn’t have asked for more perfect weather, and they sweetly ignored the ceremony attendees with one earphone in, listening to Hawthorn thrash Geelong.
The coolest part for me? Sneaking into the empty CBD while the game was on mere metres away and hanging out on the traffic-traffic free tram tracks (on a Saturday! Unheard of!).
Nowadays, the coolest part of this wedding day story is that Ben arrived home safely from the tour, they welcomed an adorable little boy to the world not long after, then they accepted a posting to the US where they’ve been for over a year, and now they’ve just welcomed their gorgeous daughter this month.
You can read about Bec & Ben’s adventures since moving to the states on Bec’s blog WoolmerHofs of Louisiana. And for the foodies, there’s also great recipes.
