My website got hacked a couple of weeks back which is a total pain because they completely trashed the backend of the site and I now have to redo the whole thing. The silver lining is that in trawling my archives to find the content to get it back to the state it was, I’ve come across many jobs which I’d forgotten. This is one.
The Foals Myspace Secret Show seems like forever ago but it was definitely one of my favourite jobs for easily one of my favourite clients. It also taught me a few lessons about thinking on your feet.
Back in the day when Myspace was King, Myspace Australia used to put on Secret Shows all around the country. They’d get some of the best local and International acts and put them on in tiny venues and announce the location details on the day. Limited capacity and first in best-dressed. It lead to huge lines down streets and around corners, and crazy-excited fans as well as total devastation for some of those who lined up for hours and missed out on getting through the doors.
The Myspace Secret Shows (well, all Myspace jobs really) were some of the most fun jobs I’ve ever done with one of the easiest teams (special shout-out to Paul, Sophie & Sarah) to deal with.
The Foals Secret Show was no exception.
The English lads from Oxford were total gentleman, exhibiting immense patience and trying not to roll their eyes at the loser photographer who had to grab a videographer to lean over her shoulder with camera-light to light the still shot after both her flashes failed. So embarrassing.
