I think pretty much every music photographer and music journalist in the world has a crush on Dave Grohl. I am no exception. So I was more than happy to head over to Adelaide in December 2011 to photograph Foo Fighters for Frontier Touring.
I’d never shot in Adelaide before and it was a rather more relaxed media experience than you get in Melbourne. I guess being a smaller capital city contributes heavily to there being a fraction of the amount of photographers working at stadium shows than in Melbourne. Which is ace. So much more room to move and a whole lot less elbowing – particularly when you’re confined to one side of the stage and a defined space.
And the Adelaide shooters are nice to boot. Not to say Melbourne’s aren’t but as more photographers get added to the ranks, there’s bound to be personality clashes. In Adelaide, the group was small and friendly.
Anyhow, this was definitely a career highlight.
Photos were shot for Frontier Touring and the images were also picked up by Foo Fighters and used for social media.
